SCHOLARSHIPS
John C. Kersten Memorial Scholarship
The Jon C Kersten Memorial Scholarship is made possible by a generous donation in Jon's name, profits from the sale of this yearbook, the 50/50 raffle at FIU and funds raised through other means. The students apply online (can we add a link) and are endorsed by their band director. This scholarship is open to ANY high school senior in a Florida Marching Band program.
Application Requirements & Steps

You must be a graduating Senior of the Class of 2027.

You must be a member of a band that is participating in the 2026 FMBC Prelims.

You will need to provide 2 letters of recommendation: one from your current band director, and one from another teacher at your school.

Complete application (link above) and submit the letters of recommendation to: cathy@fmbcstate.com
Important Information
The students eligible for assistance must be graduating high school seniors who reside in Florida and are members of a band that is registered for and attends the FMBC State Semi-Finals.

Directors will be notified if your student(s) are chosen to receive an award. They will be asked to come forward during your Prelims retreat ceremony to accept their award.

John Rusnak Memorial Scholarship
With his dynamic personality, John Rusnak transformed many students into well rounded adults, many of whom went on to become the educators of today. His family is proud to have him honored with this scholarship, proudly underwritten by All County Music. Student's apply online (link) and must receive recommendations from their band director and another teacher. This scholarship is open to ANY senior instrumentalist in a Florida Marching Band program.
